Mission Statement
We aim to provide a multi-disciplinary
service for individuals and their families living with eating
distress. The purpose of this aim will be to lead the person with
eating distress through to full recovery. Understanding of full
recovery for the Shandon Therapy Centre team is not only regaining
normal weight, and normal eating behaviour, it is more so a healing
process that allows the person to develop their full mental,
physical, emotional and spiritual potential.
Aims and Objectives

Shandon Therapy Centre aims to
remain cognizant at all times that eating distress is on a spectrum
between anorexia at one end and obesity on the other.

To provide a therapeutic treatment
service to individuals and their families living with eating
distress.

To guide people with eating distress
to full recovery.
-
To include parents and family in the
therapeutic process towards full recovery from eating distress.

To provide early intervention in the
life of the person with eating distress.

To provide a social care service to
individuals and their families living with eating distress.
-
To provide a psycho education service
to the public so as to reduce the incidence and prevalence of eating
distress.
-
To provide liaison with the media
regarding eating distress.
-
To promote and pursue research to
advance understanding of eating distress, and to evaluate service
provision.

To compose a policy on evidence based
practice to monitor, audit, and evaluate services in order to ensure
delivery of high quality care.

To ensure that the services offered
are adequate, locally and financially accessible and equitable.

To adhere in our work to the code of
ethics and practice of the Family Therapy Association of Ireland and
the Irish Association of Psychotherapy.
